Work Ready Math builds mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills to prepare learners to solve real-life workplace problems, such as calculating dimensions, costs, and percentages; reviewing transactions to ensure accuracy; and comparing rates.
A participant who has earned an Achievement Level 2 in Work Ready Math has the foundational math skills to succeed in preparatory programs for O*NET Job Zone 2 career pathways. Participants can complete basic computations of multi-step problems using percent, averages, rates, ratios, proportions, integers, fractions, and decimals to solve workplace problems. For example, participants have demonstrated the ability to:
Determine the correct approach to solving a workplace problem.
Solve multi-step problems, such as determining profit when provided revenue and expense figures.
Solve single-step multiplication problems with integers, such as determining change in stock value.
Solve simple ratio problems, such as determining the ratio of managers to employees.
Solve problems with fractions and/or mixed numbers, such as when calculating total product shipped.
